To get a better understanding of how Il Toscano came be, it's important to learn a little about the couple who founded it.

Long before meeting his wife Gloria, Marcello Sindoni began life as one of the three children of Maddalena Sindoni in mid fifties Italy. Raising three children in cold war Italy, Maddalena went through harsh times and had to struggle through periods filled with tragedy and triumph until after being recently widowed Maddalena whisked her children to the U.S in the ninety seventies. The Sindoni family had a rough start when they first arrived in the states, working in factories and restaurants and sowing the seeds of what would become their culinary empire. After an arduous decade of working his way up Marcello was able to open his first restaurant, Azzurro in New York which was a major success. Since then Marcello has opened six restaurants in Manhattan, one in Rome, one in Virginia, and this will be his fourth successful restaurant here in sunny South Florida he has also won countless awards and accolades all over the world for his restaurants. Marcello has gone through an exciting and adventurous life which anyone who meets him can see in his wise, warm and resilient demeanor but as Marcello will tell you himself his life was incomplete until the day he laid eyes on the love of his life. Gloria was born in Colombia but had been living in New York city for a long time, working as a leading skin care expert where she helped the famous and wealthy of New York repair and maintain their skin. Gloria was very successful and before long she relocated to South Florida to work for many resorts and spas including the Fountainebleau resort in Miami. Until one day in the late nineties while Marcello was opening his previous restaurant he happened to lay eyes on Gloria and to quote Marcello directly, “It was love at first sight”. Marcello and Gloria formed a strong relationship and were married before the turn of the century forming the strong partnership that has lasted for almost two decades. The combination of Marcellos lifetime of culinary experience and Glorias decades of corporate expertise formed a foundation of knowledge that helped to propel the couple forward and to stand resiliently even through the great recession. In 2013 Marcello and Gloria sold their last restaurant and after years of preparation are ready to introduce their newest restaurant to hungry crowds. The last piece of the puzzle was a chef that could match the ambition that Marcello and Gloria had placed into their new restaurant and in Jose Escobar a world renown chef with talent to spare they found a head chef. Jose was born in Colombia in the mid fifties and lived there until the mid seventies when he moved to London to receive a culinary education. Through hard work and raw talent Jose climbed up the ladder quickly eand before long he was cooking for the English royal family in Buckingham and Windsor palaces. After becoming a world renown chef Jose traveled to the U.S and has increased his culinary abilities even further. Once he met Marcello a kinship of culinary expertise bound a powerful friendship that led to Jose becoming the head chef here at Il Toscano.
